“A two hour bath to wash off what five hours in a septic tank gets you. Paff thought there was a hole in his tank and when he went to check it out it collapsed. He fell 10 feet into 3 feet of muck. He could not climb out. Paff yelled for help for more than two hours. Then he heard a noise. Murphy, the neighbor’s 9-year-old mutt, was barking. Paff barked back… “I kept him going. Made him mad. He kept barking. I kept barking back. I’d bark and he’d bark back at me…” Mary Walsh noticed that Murphy was barking like she’d never heard him bark before. Murphy led her daughter, Stacy, to the hole and help was soon on the way. “Are you surprised he did something heroic yesterday? No, I’m not surprised, because he’s a great dog.” Good dog, Murphy.”
